Ladoja, Lanlehin promote peace

Rashidi Ladoja
The National Leader of Accord Party and former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has urged political leaders in the country to render selfless service and ensure that peace reigns in the country.
In his message to Christians in Nigeria as they celebrate Christmas, the former governor said Nigerians would  have faith in the country and the leaders if security improved, adding that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolised hope and brought good life.
He said, “Leaders at all levels must shun selfish pursuit of economic armour to the
detriment of the masses. I also urge Nigerians to use the season to pray for a peaceful 2014 as the country heads into another critical period in its history.
“At this time of the year, the message of the birth of Jesus Christ is that there is hope for the world.  What we then need to do is to give hope to our people by listening to them and giving them what they need without been prompted.”
Also in his message, Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Olufemi Lanlehin, urged Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to prioritise the essence of love and peace in the life of the country in order to quicken the emergence of a new Nigeria.
The lawmaker, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, said, “Christians should spread the love of the season among themselves and extend same to other faith adherents to demonstrate the true spirit behind the celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ. This is the reason for the season.
“Yuletide is unique world-wide since the period is dedicated to celebrating the birth of The Prince of Peace. Therefore, the vast population of Christians in the country must acknowledge the positive contributions of Christ to the world at large and domesticate both his teachings and practices to promote love, peace and harmony at all times.”
Lanlehin added that some patriotic Nigerians were making personal and collective sacrifices to sanitise the nation’s political space and guarantee better citizens participation in public governance ahead of 2015 general elections.
