Frank Lampard is also in the frame to play at Stamford Bridge after returning from a calf injury
Nemanja Matic has been named in the Chelsea squad to face Manchester United on Sunday.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho brought the Serbian back to the club this week for a fee of £20.75million just three years after selling him.
Matic has been put straight into the squad to face the champions, but Mourinho insists he will not start the game.
Veteran midfielder Frank Lampard is likely to get the nod ahead of the new boy as he returns from a a calf injury in time for Sunday's clash.
The game has come too soon for right-back Branislav Ivanovic, though. He only returned to training on Friday following a knee problem.
Provisional squad: Cech, Cole, Luiz, Essien, Ramires, Torres, Mata, Oscar, Mikel, Lampard, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Hazard, Ba, Willian, Schwarzer, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Eto'o, Blackman
