"If A Man Hits You Once, He Will Hit You Again" Is This Statement Really True?

Domestic violence is evil!
And every woman is advised never to let herself be a victim, for no reason whatsoever.

But this statement - if a man hits you ONCE, he will DEFINITELY hit you again, is it really correct?
