When you wish upon a star .... someone doesn't get eliminated. But this is 'Dancing With the Stars,' Week 5. Who was sent packing?
It was Disney night on Monday's Dancing With the Stars . Fairy dust and princess costumes ruled the night.
But all the wishes in the world couldn't stop one celeb from being sent home. Who was it?
First we saw one celeb get a perfect score — all 10s! Who got that?
Here's how it all played out:
Her co-host Tom Bergeron noted that the show was doing some "conscious re-coupling," as the stars and pros were reunited with their original partners.
This week's guest judge, Donny Osmond , took a seat at paddle panel with Carrie Ann Inaba , Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli . "Walt Disney himself discovered my brothers," said Osmond, who added that he has a voice role in Disney's Mulan movie. The 2009 DWTS champ said he'd be judging on performance, not technique.
Elimination news: Charlie White was immediately told he was safe. Drew Carey got good news, too. He was safe.
Charlie and Sharna Burgess danced a delightful jazz number toSupercalifragilisticexpialidocious. They were practically perfect in every way, except that at one point, Charlie dropped his cane. Donny loved it. Bruno did, too. Carrie Ann told Charlie: "You're like a wave of happiness!" Len: "Don't worry about Mary Poppins ! That was eye-poppin!" Scores: 9, 10, 9, 9 = 37
Drew danced a quickstep with Cheryl Burke to Friend Like Me from Aladdin . An animated genie danced between Drew and Cheryl. Len said it was like Disney film Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah —- the performance had plenty of zip, but technique had "doo-dah." Donny nitpicked about his arms. Bruno thought he was lacking clean delivery. Carrie Ann said he "maintained" the fun, but warned him about making a strange face when he loses focus during his dances.Scores: 7, 7, 7, 7 = 28
Elimination news: Amy Purdy is safe. So is Danica McKellar . NeNe Leakes is in jeopardy. And so is Cody Simpson .
Danica danced a quickstep to Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast . "I love to dance. I love this song. I love Val. I love everything about it!" she gushed during rehearsals. Danica hammed it up as the movie's Belle, in a yellow gown, swirling around the ballroom. Bruno said it was "a deliciously tasty feast for the eyes. Your improvement is incredible! ... Stupendous!" Carrie Ann squealed and hugged her. "You were gorgeous!" Len told Danica she is "a fantastic dancer." Donny, noting he played Gaston on Broadway, said they "knocked it out of the park." Scores: 10, 9, 10, 10 = 39
Amy and Derek Hough worked hard to figure out how to make their ballroom dance smooth because it required control in the ball of the foot, the ankle, the toe. Rehearsal was a challenge for the double amputee. "This is the first time that I feel frustrated that my legs aren't working the way I need them to," Amy told the cameras, before bursting into tears. "I feel like what Derek's teaching me is not that hard, but it's hard for me." In the ballroom, their waltz was dreamy, with a lot of posing and not so much dancing. Carrie Ann called them for doing a lift, but said they were elegant. "I hope Disney will make their next princess like you!" Len said it was "beautiful," but would have liked a little more time "in hold." Donny said Amy was "more than inspiring." Bruno said she had "never looked more beautiful." Scores: 9, 9, 10, 9 = 37
Cody and Witney danced a cute samba to Lion King's I Just Can't Wait to be King. He was playing the role of Simba , the lion cub from the film, which Witney said was a good fit. "They're both young, energetic, a little wild and have great hair!" Len said Cody "really sold" it. Donny said he didn't think it looked like Cody liked the dance. "I didn't see any happiness and joy." But added, "The dancing was phenomenal." He got booed. Bruno said Cody had "incredible energy and timing." Carrie Ann said, "Tonight I felt the power of Cody." Scores: 9, 8, 8, 9 = 34
NeNe and partner Tony Dovolani had a little reunion problem, bickering a bit about their foxtrot. The switch-up last week, Tony said, "put a road bump" in their relationship. "Thank god we ain't married in real life. We'd be divorced," said NeNe to the cameras. She sashayed out of rehearsals saying Tony had an "attitude." Tony was stunned. But it was all for show. When it came time to foxtrot, they seemed completely in sync, as NeNe played Cruella DeVil , which gave her a good chance to play up her role as a meanie. Donny loved it, so much so that he got bleeped in his remarks. Bruno liked the "bump and grind" that NeNe put into the dance. Said Carrie Ann: "Girl, you can rock the villain." Len: "You two are a match made in dance heaven," and he deemed it NeNe's "best dance." She got so emotional she couldn't speak. (A first!) Scores: 9, 9, 9, 9 = 36
Elimination news: Candace is in jeopardy. Meryl and James are safe.
So who was heading home? Would it be NeNe, Cody or Candace?
Not NeNe. She's safe.
It's Cody! The crowd booed. "This has been an amazing experience. Obviously it's tough, but it is what it is," said the clearly disappointed pop star
Said Witney, "I'm sad. I feel like people didn't really get a chance to see Cody yet."
They took a final bow as the show wrapped.
