NEW YORK — This really puts the "upper" in upper crust.
A high rise on Manhattan's tony Central Park West has again nabbed the distinction of being the most expensive building in New York City.
Luxurious condo 15 Central Park West earned the honor by selling apartments at an average of $6,288 per square foot, according to CityRealty, which just put out a report on top Big Apple apartment sales. The priciest sale in the second quarter was a 15 Central Park West pad that went for a sky-high $8,556 per square foot, making for a total selling price of $48 million.

The architecture and the views from this swanky two-tower building are "absolutely stunning," says CityRealty CEO Daniel Levy.
The amenities are amazing too, says author Michael Gross, who gives details on the posh building in his book House of Outrageous Fortune.
The in-building perks include a 75-foot lap pool, a library, a billiards area and a screening room, he says.
"There's a little bit of everything that a rich person would want," says Gross.
The ritzy residence has drawn big-name inhabitants from the business, entertainment and sports worlds. Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, actor Denzel Washington and musician Sting are among those who nest at 15 Central Park West, says Gross.
In fact, Sting and Blankfein have apartments with adjoining terraces, Gross says. "I bet when they barbecue, they talk about whether The Police will ever get back together and what stock Sting should invest in," he quips.
