5 things you missed at the CMA Awards

The Country Music Association Awards lassoed up yet another night of massive performances Wednesday, but it was the unpredictable co-hosts and pop-star implants that gave the show its most unforgettable moments:

Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert took top honors.

Bryan picked up entertainer of the year and Blake Shelton won yet another male vocalist trophy, but the night's big winner was Lambert, who garnered four awards, including female vocalist, single (Automatic) and album (Platinum).

Miranda Lambert wins CMA single of the year

The CMAs officially bid adieu to Taylor Swift.

In co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood's opening monologue, which took jabs at everyone from George Strait to Renee Zellweger, the pair said goodbye to longtime country artist Taylor Swift, who's officially gone full-fledged pop with her new album,1989. "Who's gonna be country and poppy and sing a song called Tim McGraw?" they wondered aloud in song. "Country music's just gonna have to shake it off."

It's a boy for Carrie Underwood!

In a bit near the top of the show, Paisley let it "slip" that mom-to-be Carrie is having a boy. "Hey, we could name him Garth!" Paisley said, referring to country singer Garth Brooks while pointing at her baby bump. "What are you doing?! What is wrong with you?!" Underwood replied, acting jokingly annoyed. The Something in the Water singerannounced her pregnancy in September via Twitter.

Brad Paisley raised eyebrows with a "racist" remark.

Apologizing to those who tuned in to watch Black-ish, ABC's new comedy series that usually airs Wednesday nights, Paisley jokingly told viewers to "enjoy White-ish" instead. While many people on Twitter laughed off the comment, others tweeted that the CMAs, Paisley and country music are all "racist."

Winners' list: Who took trophies at the CMAs?

Ariana Grande's performance confused a lot of people.

Pop up-and-comer Meghan Trainor won some warm notices for her country-tinged All About That Bass duet with Miranda Lambert early in the show, but Ariana Grande struggled to create sparks with those at home. Some Twitter users slammed her unabashedly poppy performance of Bang Bang with Little Big Town, while others were left unsure as to what she was doing at a country awards show.
