'Madman' caught with human tongue, weapons in Ibadan

A  man feigning to be mad was apprehended yesterday along Ring Road in Ibadan town by residents of the area who found human tongue and dangerous weapons on him.

Vanguard reports that his evil act was exposed when his hidden blackberry phone suddenly rang in public which aroused suspicion. He was immediately surrounded and searched. They allegedly found the human tongue, a cutlass and axe on him. The mob that gathered had attempted to carry out jungle justice on him but for the timely intervention of the police, who took him away.

This incident comes barely four days after the Ibadan house of horror was discovered.

According to reports, A UK landlord who leased a penthouse flat to Joseph Yobo has said he has never seen a house this dirty before. TheLandlord who was visible angry said, he is horrified and has never seen such before. He claims there were burn marks on the carpet, a dirty kitchen and bathroom, and holes in the wall left from a flat-screen television.

“There’s bond money of £1,500, but by the look of it, it will need £5,000 to put all the damage right and I will have to call in industrial cleaners. There are iron marks on the floor, as if left by ironing, and holes in the wall left by flat-screen TVs. I’ve never come across anything like this before and I’m just so shocked. The place looks as if it’s been burgled” he said.

Yobo has however denied ever living there and said his brother, Godwin was the one who lived there and paid the rent.

“It’s my name on the lease, but I never lived at the flat and I’ve never even been there. Thelandlord doesn’t know me and he hasn’t spoken to Gideon about this. I have property too and the landlord should have gone to the letting agents if he was unhappy,” Yobo said. More pics after the cut:

“I have lost the urge for sex. My thinking is not towards that direction again; but my husband still wants sex.

Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister Accused of Squandering over N10 Billion on Private Jets

Federal lawmakers are alleging that Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has squandered over N10 billion to charter and maintain private jets for her personal use.

Initially, accusations were levelled against Alison-Madueke last Thursday, based on suspicions surrounding the source of funding for one private jet, a Challenger 850. However, lawmakers reportedly uncovered another aircraft on Tuesday, a Global Express XRS plane.

Samuel Adejare, the lawmaker who raised  the issue about the initially uncovered jet last Thursday, said “reliable evidence”indicated that financing for the Challenger 850 was acquired from government funds.  The jet has reportedly cost N10 billion to maintain over the past two years. Also, she allegedly spent about 500,00 Euros (N130 million) on a monthly basis to maintain the aircraft, exclusively for her own personal needs and those of her family.

The second jet, a Global Express XRS, is  reportedly chartered solely for her private and official trips overseas. This jet was reportedly discovered during the course of investigations surrounding the N10billion expenditure on the Challenger 850.

Reports in some domestic media today which quoted President Goodluck Jonathan as "confirming" in Amsterdam that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) wrongly withheld $10 Billion from the federation account  are completely false and a total distortion of the President's comments during his meeting with the Nigerian community in the Netherlands.

At no time during the well-attended reception did President Jonathan also confirm any "irregularities" in the NNPC.

Boko Haram kills 5 policemen, 3 others in suicide car bomb in Borno

Members of Boko Haram today struck in a twin suicide attack around the Dalori Housing Estate in Maiduguri Borno State, killing 5 policemen, 3 civilians and wounding several others. The men were said to have rammed the Volkswagen Golf cars they came in into a police patrol van. The bomb they carried detonated, killing them, the police men, 3 people around the area and injuring several others.

Immediately after the blast, security operatives cordoned off the area to prevent further attacks.
