English legend and midfield general Frank Lampard has announced that he will leave the blues after his contract runs out this summer.
The Chelsea record holder is rumoured to have agreed terms with New York based club, New York Red Bulls. He will join French Superstar Thiery Henry and Spanish player David Villa in New York.
Frank thanked the club and the owner Roman Abramovic for buying the club and lifting it to new world cup.
Lampard said: “When I arrived at this fantastic club 13 years ago I would never have believed that I would be fortunate enough to play so many games and enjoy sharing in so much success.
This club has become part of my life. The club will move forward and as a Chelsea man I have no doubt that with the quality of the players that are there, they will continue with the success that we have all enjoyed over the past seasons.Thank you for the memories and keep making history!”Lampard has held talks with New York City over a prospective move to Major League Soccer’s new franchise, who have just signed the Atlético Madrid forward David Villa.
The deal proposed by New York City, who have been set up and are backed by the Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, would offer Lampard similar wages to those he currently enjoys at Chelsea.
