Two kayakers just missed being attacked by a great white shark off the coast of Plymouth, Mass., according to various reports.
What experts believe was a great white shark took a bite out of one of two kayaks that two women were riding as they took pictures of seals, WCVB-TV reports.
The shark took a bite out of the underside of one of the kayaks, sending both women tumbling into the water, Plymouth, Mass., Fire Battalion Chief Dean Deltorto told thePatriot Ledger. Neither woman was hurt.
"They were up close and personal with the shark," Deltorto told the news organization.
Please note: the shark in the photo is not said shark, but is likely very much like it.
The bite mark in the kayak helped officials conclude that it was a great white shark that decided to have a taste of the vessel, according to the Patriot Ledger.
"The Division of Marine Fisheries was able to determine that it was a great white shark due to a tooth fragment and the bite radius," Amy Mahler, spokeswoman for the Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, told the news organization.
Sharks like to hunt seals and that may be what attracted them, the news organization said.
