Week 6 winners
DeMarco Murray's MVP case: The Cowboys running back has surpassed 100 yards on the ground in all six games this season, and his latest effort (115 yards, TD) against Seattle's top-ranked run defense fueled Dallas' latest upset ... if you can still call them upsets. The Cowboys continue to limit mistakes, dictate tempo (38 minutes time of possession Sunday) and play just enough defense to prevail.
Philip Rivers' MVP case: His passer rating eclipsed 120 (123.8) for the fifth straight week as the Chargers ran their winning streak to five and remained a half-game up in the AFC West. (Rookie wunderkind Branden Oliver's second straight 100-yard rushing day was also a big factor in Sunday's escape act in Oakland.)
NFC East: The NFL's resurgent glamor division is refuting offseason speculation that eight or nine wins might be enough to win it. Following Sunday's action, the NFC East has two of the league's three five win teams (Dallas, Philadelphia) and seems like a potential powerhouse once more.
Aaron Rodgers: The Cheeseheads nearly melted in the 86-degree Miami heat. But Rodgers' surgical 11-play, 60-yard drive at the end culminated with a game-winning 3-yard TD pass to TE Andrew Quarless with 3 seconds to go. The Packers remained in a first-place tie atop the NFC North but may have driven another nail into the coffin of Dolphins coach Joe Philbin, a former Green Bay assistant.
Eagles defense: Enough about Chip Kelly for a minute. DC Billy Davis' unit pitched the franchise's first shutout since 1996, which also came against the Giants. OLB Connor Barwin led the way with three of the eight sacks of QB Eli Manning.
Carson Palmer: The nerve in his throwing shoulder finally re-awakened, the Cardinals quarterback played for the first time since opening night but was almost flawless as Arizona outlasted the Redskins and reclaimed first place in the NFC West.
