Ebola: Duncan's family reaches 'resolution' with hospital

Attorneys representing the family of Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan said Tuesday they have reached a "resolution" with the Dallas hospital that treated him before he died Oct. 8.
According to a news release issued by law firm Miller Weisbrod, family members will appear at a news conference on Wednesday morning "regarding a resolution they have reached on behalf of the children and parents of the deceased with Texas Health Resources and all related entities."

Details of the resolution were not available on Tuesday evening.
Duncan arrived in Texas from his native Liberia on Sept. 20. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said he sought medical care at the emergency room of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on Sept. 25, complaining of abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea and headaches. Duncan reportedly told health care workers that he had traveled to Liberia, but the attending physician was not alerted to that fact.
Duncan was sent home after spending five hours at the hospital, during which time his temperature had been recorded at 103 degrees.
Duncan returned to the hospital in an ambulance on Sept. 30 and subsequently became the first patient to be diagnosed with the Ebola virus in the United States, and the only one to die of the disease in this country.
Two Texas Health Presbyterian nurses who cared for Duncan became infected with Ebola, but later recovered.
According to the release, Duncan's nephew Josephus Weeks, Duncan's sister Mai Wureh, who represents his child, and Les Weisbrod, partner, Miller Weisbrod, will appear.
