Kelly Rowland's mother dies at age 66

Kelly Rowland is mourning the death of her mother.

E! News and AP report that Doris Rowland Garrison died Tuesday in Atlanta after suffering cardiac arrest on Monday. She was 66.

The former Destiny's Child star announced the news in a statement."It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today," Rowland said Wednesday. "We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time."

The death comes just weeks after the Rowland and her husband Tim Weatherspoon happily welcomed son Titan Jewell to the family.
